Again we request prayer for Tom . He had such a bad night and by 4 am could not swallow one drop of water, and we were quite sure he was aspirating into his lungs. The breathing would go next, so we journeyed to the ER. Yes he does have pneumonia. They started on fluids, ativan, and antibiotics; did xrays and a CT Scan of his thyroat and chest. He was admitted to his room around noon, sound asleep from the ativan. They are trying to determine if the swelling in his throat is caused by the tumor or by the radiation which is trying to shrink the tumor. Don't know yet. Lori and I spent all day there, but since Tom was only going to sleep through the night, we felt we could go home for the night. I'm sure we will learn more tomorrow. We are facing the "Five Wishes" advance directives we have filled out--wondering where normal palliative care ends and heroics begin. This stuff isn't black and white--lots of greys in it. Pray for wisdom...Tom has to make the final decision. Our family is all tracking well with us. He is at Rockwall Presbyterian Hospital Room 211.Thanks so much for praying and caring. God is definitely in control, and we are at peace with that.
Seeking to finish well in TX....
